NPR is following the Mime story as closely as the rest of us. Here is a 27 second podcast and the description from the site. I corrected their grammar.:
"Morning Edition, November 19, 2007 · A cat named Mime lives with the owner of a Chinese restaurant near Windsor Castle. Mime prefers to dine with Queen Elizabeth's corgis. The cat is so familiar to tourists that her real owner says he's often asked what the queen's cat is doing in his restaurant."

Although, this report seems to be holding out on the cat worship, as indicated by the title. This is from The Sun:
Meet the royal cat burglar

HUNGRY cat Mime snubs Chinese grub for posh nosh — by gatecrashing WINDSOR CASTLE for lunch. Every day, the cheeky black and white moggy walks the 50 yards across the cobbled street from the restaurant where she lives.
"A courtier told me the corgis used to fight with her at first, but after lots of barking and some hissing they came to a sort of truce ...On the Queen’s birthday the Army locked the Henry VIII gates but the security guys opened one to let Mime through.
Man, I wish I had not missed this. The picture says it all.
From the article:
A cat, on the other hand, says, "You pet me, you feed me, you shelter me, you love me - I must be God."

I am not sure abotu the dog part, I think they are trying to lure in the dog lovers and then lead them to cat worship

In all the California fires, flames can't lick a cat statue. If only more people had cat statues...maybe the cats would have purred the fires out with their Egyptian powers. Cat statues bring comfort to fire victims.
California Fire Survivors Give Thanks
By CHELSEA J. CARTER – Oct 28, 2007
"Nancy Hylbert gave thanks for a wrought-iron ice cream table and chairs that survived outside, and a terra cotta statue of a cat from her garden.
"They are the only links with my past, " she said. "I feel a little bit like an amnesiac with no link to my past."
"It is after all, only 519 years since European cat worship was officially banned by Pope Innocent VIII and felines realise their time will come again."
